It is all well and good until You conduct in-depth researches and find out that there is also a Yamaha p45b in the marketplace.
This is when the”Whats the difference between the P-45 and the P-45b” dilemma comes in.
Difference Between P45 and P45b Personal Experience
Just like anyone else I came across this mind bugging issue, I personally tried researching the differences, but got little to no outcome, at first I personally believed the Yamaha p-45b was an upgraded version of the normal p-45 until I finally called Yamaha to clear my doubts.
You will not believe what I discovered:
When I called and talked to one of Yamaha’s staff members, I discovered that the letter B at the end of the phrase Yamaha P-45 stands for Black. yes Black.
There is actually No Difference Between the Yamaha P-45 and the P-45b, the B at the of the model’s name stands to indicate the black color.
But wait ….there is another plot twist… all p-45 models are made in black, meaning you will not find a single Yamaha p45 that is made in white or any other color.

Researching the Yamaha P-45 in google images, as You can see we are presented with a black version of this portable piano throughout the google image research.
Now, let’s look at the P115, this model presents both a black and a white version, which can be differentiated by typing Yamaha P115 and Yamaha P115 b
keeping in mind that there is not a difference in performance between this two (Yamaha p-115 and Yamaha p-115b), let us conduct a different research this time, with the term Yamaha p115w
Why Would Vendors Include a B on the p-45
Knowing that this model only presents a black version, my best guess is that most vendors are not fully aware of how confusing this is to potential buyers.
There is a possibility however that some vendors are specifically pointing out the fact that indeed there is only a black version of this digital piano, assuming that everyone already knows this, but that is not the case.
The P45 vs P45b dilemma is a very popular one, just as the P-115 vs P-115b and other similar searches, once again this is just a color distinction and not a hardware or performance difference.

Обзор цифрового пианино Yamaha P45B
Если мы говорим про компактные цифровые пианино , то наверное, первый инструмент, который приходит на ум – это Yamaha P45B .
Этому инструменту уже сто лет в обед, но он по-прежнему в строю, и по-прежнему одно из самых (если не самое) продаваемых компактных цифровых пианино на рынке.
Давайте посмотрим на модель с высоты 2021 года и попробуем понять, насколько действительно P45 актуален на сегодняшний день.
Цифровое пианино Yamaha P45
Распаковка и первое впечатление
Вижу запечатанное в коробку пианино, и сразу же немой вопрос – почему такая большая коробка?! Неужели инструмент такой большой?
Нет, все не так страшно. Пианино, конечно побольше, чем у конкурентов, но не настолько, чтобы это было критично.
Сравните габариты с Roland FP-10 и Casio CDP-S100:
- Yamaha P45B: 1326 x 154 x 295 мм при весе 11,5 кг;
- Roland FP-10: 1284 x 140 x 258 мм при весе 12,6 кг;
- Casio CDP-S100: 1322 x 99 x 232 мм при весе 10,5 кг
В комплекте есть педаль сустейна («лягушка», компактная), блок питания, инструкция и подставка для нот. Подставка, кстати, неплохая, ноты «проваливаться» не будут. А вот педаль я бы прикупил себе другую, более массивную. По опыту знаю, что такие легкие педали «убегают» из под ноги во время игры.
Уже традиционно для инструментов этого класса в комплекте нет стойки.
Кстати, по поводу стойки, это тот еще вопрос. У Ямахи есть специальная стойка под этот инструмент Yamaha L85 . Она действительно хорошая, устойчивая, но стоит совсем немалых денег как для аксессуара (около 130 у.е.). С другой стороны, на крестообразной стойке инструмент стоит немного неустойчиво. По крайней мере, мне какие-то технические вещи играть на таких стойках не очень комфортно.
Если есть возможность, попробуйте в магазине оба варианта. Я бы все же предпочел родную… ну либо сделать самому.
Еще один момент, на который я обратил внимание – это минимум кнопок на панели. Есть кнопка включения, регулятор громкости в виде ползунка, и кнопка Grand Piano/Function. Идея в том, что когда Вы удерживаете эту кнопку, то клавиши фортепианной клавиатуры становятся кнопками управления.
Причем над некоторыми клавишами прописано, что именно мы будем менять.
Клавиатура
Если говорить сухо, то на Yamaha P45B установлена клавиатура Graded Hammer Standard (GHS). Если расшифровать, то «градуированная» означает, что в нижнем диапазоне клавиши нажимаются чуть тяжелее, чем в верхнем (такой же принцип и в акустических пианино). А «молоточковая» значит, что клавиатура спроектирована таким образом, чтобы по тяжести клавиши были, как на акустическом пианино.
Есть возможность регулировать чувствительность (Touch Sensitivity). 4 режима. Можно вообще установить режим, в котором независимо от силы нажатия громкость меняться не будет.
Звук
Тембров 10: по 2 классических фортепиано, электропианино, органа и клавесина. А также скрипка и вибрафон.
Процессор — AMW Stereo Sampling, полифония – 64.
Тембр фортепиано неплохой, но мне, если честно, не хватает динамики. Не в смысле громкости. Просто складывается впечатление, что постоянно играешь в диапазоне от mP до mF. Хотелось бы, чтобы звук более тонко реагировал на манеру игры. Хотя для обучения этого, наверное, достаточно.
Если углубляться в подробности, то тембры сильно похожи на тембры PSR-E400-ой серии. Только не последних моделей, а где-то PSR-E413. С поправкой на акустику, конечно.
Есть встроенный ревербератор (4 типа), который позволяет добавить немного пространства в звук.
Также можно сделать так, чтобы 2 звука звучали одновременно (режим Dual).
А можно поделить клавиатуру на 2 части, при этом обе части будут звучать в одном и том же диапазоне (режим «DUO» или «дуэт»). Эта функция будет полезной при занятиях с педагогом.
Для самостоятельных занятий инженеры встроили в Yamaha P45B метроном с возможностью регулировки темпа и размера.

Другие функции
Встроена функция транспонирования (это когда Вы берете, например, ноту «до», а по факту звучит «соль». Используется в основном при пении, чтобы певцу было не высоко и не низко петь).
Кстати, есть еще тонкая настройка (ноты тоже сдвигаются по высоте, но не на полтона, а совсем на чуть-чуть). Но этой функцией пользуются очень редко.
Из полезного еще надо отметить автоотключения инструмента, если на нем не играть около получаса. Эту функцию при желании можно отключить.
Встроенная акустика
Мощности акустической системы (2 динамика по 6 Вт) вам вполне хватит для комнаты в квартире, но какой-то глубины от звука не ждите. Причем это +/- касается всех компактных цифровых пианино . Это та цена, которую Вы платите за размер инструмента.
Поэтому, если Yamaha P45B планируется использовать в больших помещениях – без дополнительной акустики Вам не обойтись.
Разьемы
Вход для блока питания, само собой. Можно подключить наушники. Подойдут любые, только обратите внимание на разьем — 1/4” (6,3мм).
Есть USB-выход. Так что Вы вполне можете подключать P45B либо к компьютеру и использовать его как MIDI-клавиатуру, либо к мобильным устройствам и пользоваться специальными приложениями от компании Yamaha. Обратите только внимание, что кабель в комплекте не идет.
Ну и вход для педали сустейна. Обращаю Ваше внимание, что Yamaha P45B поддерживает функцию полупедаллирования. Но для этого саму педаль с этой функцией придется купить отдельно. Например, это может быть Yamaha FC-3A.
Вместо выводов. Хорош ли Yamaha P45B?
Я бы разбил этот вопрос на два. Первый будет звучать так:
Стоит ли рассматривать покупку цифрового пианино Yamaha P45B?
Ответ: если инструмент покупается для начинающего музыканта (например, ребенку «под музыкальную школу) – однозначно, рассматривать стоит. Во-первых, инструменты Yamaha всегда имели и имеют очень высокое качество сборки. А во-вторых, вполне возможно, что именно такая механика клавиатуры и такой «матовый» тембр Вам понравится больше, чем у других пианино этого же класса. Почему нет?
Ответ: да, пора. Более того, я уверен, что работа в этом направлении ведется.

Yamaha P45 vs P45B: Head-to-Head Comparison
As aforementioned, the Yamaha P45 vs P45B match up is not exactly consequential considering the only real difference between the two, other than the additional letter in the variant name, is the finish. The former comes in a few colors while the latter is just black, hence the “B” in the model’s name. Do note though that even the basic one comes in black as well.
It’s quite amusing that Yamaha had to make this specific distinction, but it does seem like it’s a smart marketing method to re-release an old product. Whatever the actual reason for this is, the verdict comes easy. These two are on equal footing.
Feel and Playability
The Winner: Tie
Although the P45 is just the second model designed under the P-Series right after the P35, Yamaha has given it a lot of thought, especially in terms of feel and playability. Again, our featured variants are exactly the same so this, and the following chapters, would just be a straightforward description.
+Hammer Action
Yamaha equipped both the P45 and the P45B with the proprietary Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) hammer action. “Graded” is almost identical to “weighted” in the sense that the keys are heavy under the fingertips. The main difference is that the left side has a lot more give than the right most side. The two were also provided with escapement, adding to the realism of the sound.
+Touch Sensitivity
Sensitivity refers to the fullness of sound generated based on the pressure applied to the keys. Slow, soft presses give mellow tones while hard, forceful ones create booming resonance. This attribute is very much apparent in acoustic pianos because of the mechanism under the keys. Many digital versions fail in this because they lack or have very little weightedness. Fortunately, the two P-series have four levels: Soft, Medium (standard), Hard, and Fixed.
+Key Texture
The keys on grands and uprights are either crafted from real ivory or polished hardwood. Some high end digital ones are furnished with high-quality plastic with ivory-like veneer over it, to achieve realism. The P45 and the P45B, unfortunately, are just made of plastic.
Tone

Equally as important as the feel, the tone is another feature most musicians look for when buying digital pianos. The closer it sounds to a grand, the better it is. Our featured P-series models, identical in practically everything, are on a par in this section as well.
+Tone Generator
While real acoustic pianos have convoluted mechanisms under the hood to create sound, digital versions basically rely on recording that sound, storing it in a computer box, and playing it back when the keys are pressed.
Companies have different names for their sound engines, although the system is practically the same. Yamaha makes use of the AMW (Advanced Wave Memory) Stereo Sampling for most of their P-Series models. But because Yamaha has very nearly perfected this, you can expect brilliance, resonance, melodiousness, and complexity when playing.
+Sound Library
Aside from capturing acoustic piano sounds, digital versions can also play other instruments. This is especially useful for musicians who compose or perform.
The P45 and its twin are furnished with 10 different voices: two grands, two electrics, two pipe organs, two harpsichords, a vibraphone, and a set of strings.
Piano Functions and Features
The Winner: Tie
Pardon the repetitiveness, but the P45 and the P45B are perfectly matched in this chapter. They are truly one and the same as evidenced by the feel and tone as mentioned above and what will be detailed below.
+Polyphony
The P45 is the second model designed, marketed, and circulated under the P-Series. Its predecessor, the P35, is not a bad piece. However, its 32-count polyphony left a whole lot of people – even beginners – wanting. Both the P45 and the P45B satisfied that deficiency since its polyphony was boosted to 64.
Many will argue that good digital pianos should have at least 100. In this day and age, and with so many new competitors coming up with comparably great pieces, I may agree. But beginners will still benefit from a 64-count polyphony Yamaha.
+Playing Modes
Often overlooked, this feature is incredibly important for beginners. The Lesson mode splits the digital piano in two 44-keys with the same octave so student and teacher can play side by side. Split does the same except each 44-key plays a different voice. Dual allows two voices to be played at the same time. Both the P45 and the P45B have Lesson and Dual modes.
+Speaker System
The P-series models, quite unfortunately, only have two 6W power. This pales in comparison with its contemporaries. Worse, the speaker cones are downward facing.
+Connectivity and Recording Capability
Aside from the headphone connections which is a must-have in any modern digital piano, both the P45 and the P45B have a USB port which allows users to connect to computers. While the instruments can’t capture practice sessions on the spot, adding the USB enables recording music and saving it to your PC or mobile phone.
One of the functionalities many hope this would have is an AUX out for better amplification because the speaker is not as amazing as it should be.
